should I continue this?

I step out of my car. The sun towers over me. The light hurts my eyes. I look over to see a grey building. I remember this place from when I was younger. When I stop my day dreaming, I walk over to the building. I open one of the four boors. As I walk the smell of fresh hot popcorn hits my faces. “Hello, can I help you?” A lady says. She is sitting on the counter beside the popcorn machine. “I’m looking for someone. Her name is Sunny.” I replied to her. “She’s in the gym. Just in there.” She point to a boor. “Ok thank you.” I say before walking to the boors. Inside I see a group of guys playing basketball and 3 groups of people on different sides of the gym. One of all girls, one with all guys and one with kids with both girls and guys. “Mia!” A female voice yells. I look over to my right of the group of girls, there stands Sunny, my childhood best friend who I haven’t seen in years. She has her hands in the air waving me down like when we were kids. Three girls stand beside her, “Mia, you look so different!” One of the girls say. Her voice sounded very familiar but I don’t say anything. “Do you remember Amelia?” Sunny asked “of course!” I answer.

In middle school, Amelia would during toys and food to school. She was a good kid so the teachers didn’t mind.

“I love your hair!” I say “thank you, I’m tying something new.” Amelia says smiling ear to ear. “This is Jolene.” I turn to look back at Sunny. “You don’t know her but I’m sure you remember Charlotte!” Sunny finishes.

Charlotte was a good friend of Sunny’s in middle school. I personally didn’t like her too much. Honestly she scared me as a kid, every day she look different and as a white child with no understanding what wigs are that’s understandable. Now as a young adult I smile at her hoping maybe we can start again, “It’s wonderful to see you again, Charlotte!” I turn to Jolene “and it’s lovely meeting you.” Jolene smiles with on reply as Charlotte begins to speak, “it’s wonderful to see you again too.-“ “-I would of made it if Liam didn’t block it!” One guy yells making Charlotte go silent. I turn to look behind me. The guys playing basketball were now walking over to us.“I beg you would of!” Another guy says before stoping to look at me, “you must be Mia. You look very different!” He says while looking me up and down. He grabs my hand and lightly kisses the top of it. I try to hold back my smile but fail, “How kind you are, sir. I must apologize for my stupidity. I happen to not recognize you after so many years apart!” I say figuratively. He smiles back at me and giggles “you are most definitely Mia. I’m Jax” “Nice seeing you again, Jax” I laugh

Jax in middle school never really talked to me. He was one of those kids who were friends with the poplar kid. But he was nice to me most of the time. He would always pick me to be on his team when we played basketball at recess so that’s nice atleast.

I look over at Sunny, she looks like she’s about to implode. I decided for my safety to take a step back away from Jax. As soon as I do so Sunny’s boyfriend comes up taking Sunny’s eyes off Jax and giving me some peace of mind that no one is going to die. “Hey, Mia” Sunny’s boyfriend says. I give him a clear fake smile like any good best friend and turn away to look at someone else to show him we aren’t friends. As I do I see a male playing basketball. Ever shot he takes, he makes. How is that even humanly possible? He glances at me then continues. I look down not knowing what to do. I start to feel nauseous But why? I look around the gym that I once knew making sure to avoid eye contact with the guy playing basketball. I see the bleachers are now a rusted bark blue color. The little windows that sit on the walls above them are still as small as a kid. I remember sitting there in those bleachers with my mother, watching people play basketball. If only my younger self could see me now, how disappointed would she be?
